El Politico - Local Election special- The Local elections are coming and the candidates are on the canvas in the Killaloe Electoral Area. On Friday the 3rd of May 2019, the el politico team were joined in studio by members of the Social Democrats. Council election candidate and Scariff local Rebecca Doyle was accompanied by the Party's Leaders TD's Catherine Murphy and Roisin Shorthall. 

Catherine and Roisin talk about how they came to the decision to form a new party, what drives them and the policies that they are passionate about. This is the party's first Local Elections and they have three candidates in Co. Clare with Rebecca being the sole female in the field of nine in the Killaloe Electoral Area. Rebecca tells us about growing up in East Clare, her involvement in activism and how she joined the Social Democrats and what she hopes to achieve if successful in being elected to Clare County Council.
