East Clare Life - Farming Women

Michael Mc Grath spent years working as an Agricultural Advisor in the East Clare Area working closely with farming families. He noticed how involved the women were in the running of the farm and all it entailed. After his retirement he had a wish to gather a group of farming women from the area and get them to chat about their lives .When Scariff Bay Community Radio started up in the area Michael saw this as the ideal forum for his pet project to come to fruition . Last week Michael and Marie McNamara invited 6 of these special ladies into the studio of Scariff Bay Community Radio to tell us about their very important role helping to run their farms over the years.  The result was a  lovely morning in the company of Angela Mc Namara, Scariff, Christina Sheedy, Ogonnelloe, Kitty Tuohy ,Feakle , Eileen O Halloran, Mountshannon ,Carmel Wall, Bodyke and Nellie Durack ,Mountshannon. This is their story.
